I read this on another board, and thought it was too funny, but true :(
I have 5 easy steps to cleaning up any hobby room:
Step #1 Get Married. Your wife will start spending your hobby money, so no worries about having "too much stuff" any more.
Step #2 Move to a Bigger Place. I know this seems counter-intuitive, but you will find that as your house gets bigger eventually your only "guy space" will be either a) the garage, or b) an unfinished basement, or c) an unlit, unheated and/or unairconditioned shed in the back yard.
Step #3 Have Children. You will soon find that all the places named in #2 will have been taken over by numerous over-active, runny-nosed, money-pits toddling about in diapers.
Step #4 As a result of all the money spent on #1, #2 and #3, you will find that you will have to start selling all of your miniatures on eBay, and at the same time
Step #5 You will need to organize the meager figures and hobby materials you have leftover so that you can store them in the attic/basement.
See problem solved. |

There are two ways I can think to counter this senario.
1. Marry a Geek/Gamer Girl. She will likely clean up the room while setting a campaign.
2. Invoke the all mighty "Mancave" maneuver, where in you allow her to frufru up the house to her heart's content with the agreement that the basement is yours, then customize. You get organized and you might get a 52 inch HDTV out of the deal if you play your cards right. And we all know how to play cards, even if they involve tapping resources. |
