Ok, hoping that my local blockbuster would carry Oceans 12 for about 2 years I finally discovered another blockbuster 20 minutes south of my town.
My local blockbuster didn't even have the remake of Oceans 11.
Now the movie was good, not 11 good, but still good. Fun, lively, and full of that excellent slight of hand that we come to expect. But I find it a crime in this day and age when a DVD is lacking any depth whatsoever. This thing had nothing really. It had french dubbing, and subtitles in three languages. And the trailer for the movie.
What the heck. I know fathers that have put more effort into home movie DVD's than these people put into a multimillion dollar theaterical release DVD.
This is one of my prime release pet peeves. How long does it take to make a commentary? Lets say 40 Man hours, perhaps a few more. But with at least a commentary you have added some value to the movie.
I have two favorite DVD series out there. Lord of the Rings and anything directed by kevin smith. They both show the DVD love with tons of extras, and usually multiple engaging commentary tracks.
Which is one reason Half-life has a warm place in my heart, they included in the last two episodes as well as the Lost Coast Short in game commentaies. How giving is that. I will have to write something on my full thoughts on this.
PS. Crank had a kickass commentary that would occationally pop up video in the corder to give you all kinds of extra perspective. |
